Thank you all, especially Dr Sandra, for the care she gave to our Shih Tzu, Oliver. She was wonderful and helped us to grieve the physical and emotional loss of our beloved boy. Thank you all, especially Dr Sandra, for the care she gave to our Shih Tzu, Oliver. She was wonderful and helped us to grieve the physical and emotional loss of our beloved boy. He didn’t seem to feel a thing and is finally at peace. I miss my furry guy but he really wasn’t LIVING anymore. Looking back at old photos and videos these past few days, when Oliver was full of life and had his spark, has been a real eye opener regarding his recent quality of life. Also helpful, leading up to our decision and before saying goodbye, was the Quality of Life quiz on your website. It gave us a quantifiable way to see that he was approaching his end of life, based upon what was acceptable to us as a family. As Dr Sandra wisely said during her compassionate visit, “we choose to suffer so our beloved pet doesn’t have to.” I am thankful we chose at home euthanasia before Oliver reached a true crisis point and the major physical and emotional suffering and stress that would accompany such a crisis. Also, we avoided potentially needing to take him, at the last minute, to his least favorite places, the vet or emergency vet, if things became suddenly dire and full of suffering some middle of the night. Euthanasia in Oliver’s safe place, his home, was our final gesture of love to him. TLC is a true blessing.
